RESOLVING PHYLOGENETIC AND TAXONOMIC CONFLICT IN BEGONIA

نویسندگان

چکیده

Begonia is the world’s fastest-growing genus and a focus of intense taxonomic research. To support this, stable useful sectional classification needed. This paper reviews feasibility challenges creating an infrageneric for based on phylogenetic data, how to overcome conflict. In particular, it (i) tests genus-wide patterns incongruence between phylogenies nuclear, chloroplast mitochondrial genomes; (ii) explains organelle inheritance its contribution incongruence, (iii) presents manifesto workable subgeneric in light above lays foundation collaborative Phylogeny Group.

Resolving the phylogenetic and taxonomic status of dark-spored teleomorph genera in the Botryosphaeriaceae

Species in the Botryosphaeriaceae are common plant pathogens and saprobes found on a variety of mainly woody hosts. Teleomorphs typically have hyaline, aseptate ascospores. However, some have been reported with brown ascospores and their taxonomic status is uncertain. A multi-gene approach (SSU, ITS, LSU, EF1-alpha and beta-tubulin) was used to resolve the correct phylogenetic position of the d...

Resolving the phylogenetic and taxonomic relationship of Xanthomonas and Stenotrophomonas strains using complete rpoB gene sequence

The phytopathogenic genus Xanthomonas comprises numerous species and pathovars described primarily on their host and tissue specificities. Stenotrophomonas maltophilia , which is non-phytopathogenic and taxonomically closely related to Xanthomonas , has undergone several classifications from Pseudomonas to Xanthomonas and finally to Stenotrophomonas . In this study, we have investigated the phy...

Resolving the Integrity/Performance Conflict

Future applications will require integrity of complex, persistent data in the face of hardware and program failures. Thor [6], a new object-oriented database, offers a computational model that ensures data integrity in a distributed system without sacrificing expressiveness or performance. Perhaps surprisingly, compiler technology is important to making this work well. 1 Traditional Approaches ...

Phylogenetic and taxonomic revision of Lopadostoma

The genus Lopadostoma (Xylariaceae, Xylariales) is revised. Most species formerly assigned to Lopadostoma do not belong to the genus. Twelve species are herein recognised, of which two are only known from morphology. Ten species, of which six (L. americanum, L. fagi, L. insulare, L. lechatii, L. meridionale and L. quercicola) are newly described, are characterised by both morphology and DNA phy...

Visualizations for taxonomic and phylogenetic trees

MOTIVATION Despite substantial efforts to develop and populate the back-ends of biological databases, front-ends to these systems often rely on taxonomic expertise. This research applies techniques from human-computer interaction research to the biodiversity domain. RESULTS We developed an interactive node-link tool, TaxonTree, illustrating the value of a carefully designed interaction model,...
